Life Story for Muriel Mae Slane

Muriel Mae Slane
Muriel Mae Slane, 81, our beautiful, gentle, loving wife, mother and grandmother has gone to be with Jesus on Friday, May 5, 2017 at her home.

She was born November 1935 in Idaho, the daughter of Robert and Helen. Muriel graduated from High School in 1954. When she was 16, she started working at the King's store in Burley. She used to tell us that she would spend her entire paycheck at the dress store next door to King's, and although her bank balance would be zero, she had nice dresses. A more significant event was during her senior year of high school when she met her future husband Floyd Slane.

Muriel and Floyd were married in 1955 . She and Floyd "Pink" moved to the Wood River Valley with their three small children in 1965, settling into their permanent home on East Fork in 1968.

Mom devoted her life to her family and the Lord. She was always there, no matter what, welcoming us with her smile and open arms. In all aspects of her's and our lives, Mom always put an emphasis on prayer, salvation, forgiveness and the Holy Spirit. She was an avid reader of the Bible and spiritual teachings. Some of her favorite authors were Joseph Prince, Joyce Meyer, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland.

Mom was the heart and hub of our family. Her warmth, love, reassurances and positive affirmations kept us all feeling loved and special. Throughout life, Mom maintained a sunny disposition, clever wit and keen sense of humor.

Despite her own failing health, Mom was dedicated to her husband as his primary caregiver. Mom had the ability to make others feel good about themselves. She freely gave compliments and positive words to everyone she met.

We wish to thank the following individuals: Esther Scott, St. Lukes Home Health Care (Melody, Bonnie, Betty Ann), Senior Connection Meals on Wheels and housekeeping staff and doctors Fairman, Rosenblum, and McClure.

Back when she was able to actively attend, she was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Hailey. She enjoyed the services and social interaction with the wonderful people who befriended her there.

Her surviving family includes her husband Floyd “Pink”, son Floyd Jr., daughter Meredi (Robert), son Bert (Gina); three granddaughters Lauren (Ron) Emily, and Amanda (Jason); three grandsons Mark (Jillian), Paul, and Matthew (Allie); five great grandchildren Zane, Graham, Isaiah, Preston, and Skyla; brother Meredith (Naydene); sister Carolyn (Charles); several nieces and a nephew. Going home before her were her parents Helen and Robert Smith.
