Obituary for James R "Jim" Boldt

James “Jim” R. Boldt, age 87, of Appleton, passed away on May 4, 2017 at Oak Park Place. He was born on December 31, 1929 to the late Ray and Gretchen (Klapper) Boldt. Jim graduated from Lawrence University where he excelled in baseball and basketball.

Jim loved listening to jazz music, especially Dixieland jazz. He was an avid and loyal Wisconsin sports fan, watching all sports. Jim loved playing golf, tennis, and fishing. He was a Pilot in the Air Force where he enjoyed flying many airplanes including the B-29 and later the T-33. Jim was a lover of dairy products, especially butter. He was a volunteer for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters for many years.

Jim is survived by his children: Susan (Kevin) Bray, Thomas (Sara Boehmer) Boldt, and Gary Boldt; grandchildren: Caroline, Virginia, James, and Steven Boldt; sister Betty (Richard) Gibbs; sister-in-law Carolyn Boldt; cousin Virginia Monday; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife Lois Crabb; second wife Beth Boldt; brother Bill Boldt; and cousin Jack Monday.

A memorial service for Jim will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
