Obituary for Ila Mae Syers (Odgen)
Ila Mae Syers 82 of Harrison passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at her home. Ila was born July 22, 1934 in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Russell and Gertrude (Barnes) Ogden. Ila graduated in 1952 from Williamston High School, Williamston, Michigan. On October 29, 1955 in Lansing, Ila was united in marriage to Mr. Glenn Alvin Syers. After fifty- three years of marriage, Mr. Syers preceded Ila in death on September 25, 2009.
Ila had resided in Harrison since 2010, coming from Williamston. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, camping and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving Mrs. Syers are her three daughters; Cindy Rich and husband Brian of Harrison, Barb Kloepfer and husband Jeff of Kalkaska, Michigan and Karen Allen and husband William of East Lansing, Michigan, one son, Glenn Syers Jr. and wife Estella of Connellys Springs, North Carolina, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two sisters; Anna Marie McDermit of Texas and Nancy Jane Nye of Lansing, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Syers also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Edna Bartlett, one grandson, Brandon D. Syers, one great-granddaughter, Meriah L. Kinnan and her two brothers, Clarence and William Ogden.
Memorial services honoring Mrs. Syers will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts in memory of Ila may be considered to the Syers family.
