Kay Natelayne Poisso Setliff, was born 6/1/57 at Baptist Hospital, Alexandria. She was a lifelong resident of Tioga, La and attended Tioga High school class of 1975.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nat, Sr., and Wynona Lodridge Poisso; and brother, Nat “Bubba” Poisso, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Johnette Amanda Setliff Kinney; son-in-law, Christopher Kinney; grandchildren, Taylor Cheyenne Gray, River Daniel Byrnes, Dustin Patrick Kinney, Jeremiah Jaxx Kinney; sister in law, Dana Poisso; best Friends, Patricia Mayeaux, Inetta Alford, Mary Rollins, and Mark Moreau; nieces, Brittany Vaughn, Courtney Bell, Shana Short, and Amy Poisso; and last but not least her four-legged friend that was always at her side, Star; and numerous cousins and extended family and friends.

To my mother…the person that gave me life…my friend, my advocate, my voice, and my strength. I write this with a heavy heart; but, at the same time, I write this with the peace of knowing you are no longer suffering…and you have finally, after a long, and hard fought battle made your way back home.
My mother was the strongest woman I have ever known. If you had a problem, she always had an answer. She was always matter-of-fact, as she would say, “I pull no bones with anyone, I tell it like it is…”. She fought more battles in her life than any one person should. She was a Poisso through and through; and for those of you who have ever met a Poisso, you know exactly what I’m referring to…and she was no different, she was a fighter…She was a force to be reckoned with if you ever found yourself on her bad side; yet, at the same time she had a heart of gold when it came to her family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of Tioga, Louisiana, and attended Tioga High School where she aspired to be a journalist. After high school, she joined The National Guard; because, she dreamed of traveling the world. After her time in The National Guard, she worked at Central Honda as a parts specialist; often, surprising her male colleagues with her knowledge of the field. She later worked for Ditto Apparel in Colfax, where she would spend the next 25 years, working her way up from a clerk to the Purchasing Agent for Jordache, LTD. She was also an innovator, with a perceptive business sense. She cofounded the first Street Rod club in Alexandria, The Twin City Cruisers. She helped to start a local car restoration business in Alexandria in the early 90’s known as J & M Customs.
When she did have spare time, she loved to sew, cross-stitch, and crochet. As a talented seamstress, and expert in crocheting, she made countless items for family and friends. She was also my Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader. Some of my fondest memories of my mother were during these times. Most importantly, she was the one who taught me how to change a tire, to balance my first check book, buy my first home, and to stand up for myself when the world brought me to my knees…. She taught me the life lessons I needed to survive on my own…Although, she might not have even realized what she was doing, by watching her, I was learning the art of being an independent woman…and although, I’ve yet to become quite as strong as she was; today, I know with the lessons and memories she left behind, I will be able to carry on because she was my mother. ….I love you more…
