Condolence From: Gregg Porter
Condolence: This is an odd way to try and find some information. My name is Gregg Porter. I was born on August 27, 1953. My natural mother was Jean Evelyn Pettyjohn, which is I believe Wayne's sister. I am just trying to find out history about Jean, and hope someone will read this and point me in the right direction. I have been searching for her for quite a long time. I understand she has passed, so any information would be appreciated greatly.

Condolence: I just learned today that Dr. Pettyjohn has passed. If it not for him, I probably would never have been successful as a groundwater geologist. He let me work for his hydrogeology lab at Ohio State University for several years, starting as a freshman. He was a proud Marine, too! I once asked him if he ever got excited since he was always so under control. He said the last time I got excited was years ago when I passed the bar exam! One of his many, many accomplishments.
Condolences to his family. I know all of us from Ohio State will miss him!

Condolence From: Joe Foster
Condolence: I am a former OSU grad-student of Dr. Pettyjohn and it was June 12 before I learned he had passed. I greatly admired Dr. Pettyjohn and his commitment to the profession of geology. He helped me, and many others, to learn groundwater geology in a comprehensive way. He advanced the profession on an unusually large scale. Thanks Wayne. Rest in peace, and many blessings on your family.

Condolence: To the family of Dr. Wayne Pettyjohn, I happened to search the web for Dr. Pettyjohn and sadly found out that he died this past May. I wish to extend my condolences to the Pettyjohn family. Dr. Pettyjohn was instrumental in my college major while he was at Ohio State. I always remember our time together because of Dr. Petthyjohn's directness but his fairness. He was most instrumental in guiding me as both a professor and someone who was well-rounded in his approach to life. Most folks who came to know Dr. Pettyjohn learned early he had a sarcastic wit and if you were overly sensitive, he could shock you a bit. After all the years since I was at Ohio State as a geology student (late 1960s to early 1970's ) I would always wonder what Dr. .Pettyjohn was doing. He surely was a most remarkable person who truly enriched my life.
