Obituary for Lois Reitz

Lois Reitz
Lois (Christy) Reitz died peacefully at home with her family present under hospice care on Sunday, May 14.2017
Lois was born in a small coal-mining town (Superior) in western Pennsylvania to Cora Belle and William Christy. She spent her early years living with diverse immigrant populations in the small mining towns. She graduated with a B.A. in elementary education (PA State Teachers’ College) and taught first and second grades during WWII. Lois married Kent Reitz on Jan. 5, 1946, and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary earlier this year. Together they lived in Rochester, NY, prior to moving to Windsor, CO. in 1970 with their family. Lois loved the out-of-doors and spent many hours hiking, gardening, camping and enjoying the mountains. Lois loved her family and other people and was equally loved by others. She was an active member of Faith United Church of Christ and belonged to various service organizations.
Lois is survived by her husband (Kent), their two children (Betty and Nancy); two grandchildren (Hannah and Jena), in-laws (Joanne and Clarence) and their family; nephews and nieces; their adopted Swiss family (Ursula and Eugene and their children and grandchildren). She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister (Margaret).
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 25, at Faith United Church of Christ at 1020 Walnut St in Windsor.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to (1) the Lois Reitz Memorial Fund at Faith UCC, 1020 Walnut St, Windsor, CO 80550; OR (2) Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Rd, Ft. Collins, CO 80525.
