Obituary for Mary Petrillo (Ambrogio)

Mary  Petrillo (Ambrogio)
After a lifetime of love and devotion to her family and friends, Mary Ambrogio Petrillo went home to God on May 16, 2017 at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Petrillo Sr. Mary was born in New Haven on September 7, 1923 to the late Consolato and Santa Morgante Ambrogio. She leaves a dear brother and sister, James Ambrosio and Susan Gorry. Mary was predeceased by her siblings Frank Ambrogio, Rose Johnson and Angelina Milici. She loved having her family around and hosted holidays and many weekday dinners at her home in West Haven, where she lived all of her adult life. Mary and her family vacationed together for many years and she will be greatly missed. She was a big fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball team and never missed watching a game on TV. Mary is survived by her loving children: Robert Petrillo Jr. (Judith), William Petrillo Sr. (Kathy), Richard Petrillo (Eileen), Susan Croce (Robert Sr.) and Timothy Petrillo (Jill). Mary was a devoted grandmother to Regina Milano, William Jr., Jonathan (Patty), Adam and Devlin Petrillo, Robert Jr. and Michael Croce and Rachael Rollins (Bryce). She was blessed to have been a great-grandmother to Max and Ryann Elizabeth Petrillo and Emilia and Nina Rollins. A special thanks to the caregivers who were an important part of Mary’s life: Inger, Debbie, Tammy and Dee.
The hours for visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. On Saturday morning friends and family are asked to go directly to St. Paul’s Church in West Haven to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT. 06405.
