Obituary for Dennis Larry Suttles

Dennis Larry Suttles
Dennis ‘Larry’ Suttles passed away on May 24, 2017 at 11:58pm. Larry was born to Claude Suttles and Ethel Mae Suttles on November 15, 1944 in Asheville, NC. He was a lifelong adventurer who possessed an inventive and entrepreneurial spirit. Larry attended Owen High School and subsequently served honorably in the United States Navy as a SeaBee from 1962 to 1966. After leaving the Navy, Larry was able to work at one of his great passions—music. He led the band Bits of Soul, a wonderful rock and country band that toured throughout the US. Larry then owned and operated his own recording studio in Fort Worth, Texas. Two Horse Records was host to some of country music’s greats, as well as up-and-comers.
Larry had three beautiful children with his former wife Phyllis: Cher Lynn Monroe, Dennis ‘Sonny’ Suttles, and Ben Jay Suttles. Larry’s children blessed him with 8 grandchildren. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather.
Larry was given the rare blessing of meeting his soulmate in life. Leah Feliton Suttles and Larry were inseparable partners and best friends, and they had a beautiful, loving marriage for 29 years. They built a business, a home, and a wonderful life together.
Larry was a second father to Leah’s beautiful daughter Jamie Price, who blessed him with 3 grandsons.
His beloved Leah will be comforted by Larry’s children, grandchildren, and his siblings: Jerry Suttles, Wanda Caudle, William ‘Hal’ Suttles, and Sharon Allison. Larry had 4 great-grandchildren and too many nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends to list. Larry Suttles was a profoundly kind, gentle, and humorous soul who will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 29, 2017 at 12:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals.
