Condolence: Mike was only 4 yrs my elder but his intelligence led me to believe the spread was so much more than 4. I'd listen to him speak with friends and always hoped one day I would be as smart as Mike. Although I lost touch many since those days, speaking to him via internet these past few years have been rewarding and full/filling. He's reminded me to always strive, always keep hope alive and never say 'I can't.'.

Condolence: I am still in shock even though I have not seen Michael since Chief Sznajder's retirement aboard the USS Ingraham in '98. I always thought Michael was too sharp for the Navy life but that is what he wanted and the commands he was stationed at over the years, were better for it. Goodbye my friend.

Condolence: Looking at Michael's photographs, I could feel the wind, hear the wings, sense the silence of the space where he could get such an extraordinary shot. Seeing Michael with Nugget and Daryl and the kittens and knowing of his deep and abiding love and respect for Ginny was a reminder of his warmth, kindness, strong moral compass, generosity, and grace. Hearing stories from his friends - of many vintages, from many ports of call fill out the picture of a life well lived but a man taken from us too soon. Traveling mercies Michael. Keep tilting, we will fight the good fight in your name my friend. And will keep Ginny in our hearts and lives (real and virtual) as we keep you.
