Volie Henry Schultea Jr, 86, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away June 8, 2017 in Katy TX Volie was born January 4, 1931 in Yoakum TX . His family moved to the Houston TX area where his father, Volie Sr, worked as a carpenter. Volie and his younger brother Joe helped with the construction business with their father as they went to high school. Volie graduated from George Washington High School in Houston TX where he played basket ball and football. He also met the love of his life there, Chloe Ann Whitfield. They were married in March 1950 before he shipped of to Korea. Volie and his brother Joe, enlisted in the United States Navy CB division.

While over seas in Korea Volie suffered his first of three bell's palsy strokes and was sent home. He once again began working as a carpenter with his father until he was accepted into the Houston Police Department academy. His brother Joe, who had also returned home from Korea ,was accepted in the same academy.

Volie worked with the Houston Police Department for 29 Years receiving numerous awards for his excellent investigation skills. The City of Houston Legal division started a special investigations unit and he was the first one chosen to fill the position. The division grew to a total of five officers. Volie scored high enough on a promotional exam to be promoted to the Sergeant of that division.

Volie was very competitive playing soft ball and bowling. He loved to go deer hunting with his family. Most of the Schultea family men are excellent domino/42 players and he was one of the best.

After 29 years with the Houston Police Department, Volie received an offer from Exxon for a corporate security position. He worked there for about nine months before the oil field business had major layoffs. Being only 55 years old , and not ready to retire, he was hired with the Harris County Constable Office, Pct 5. They put him in the Civil Paper Service Division. Over the next 15 years he was promoted to the Sergeant and then to Lieutenant of that division. He was forced to retire when he suffered his third stroke.
