Obituary for Jennie Kaemingk (Veurink)
Jennie Kaemingk, 96, of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Platte Care Center Avera. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 16, 2017 at the New Holland Christian Reformed Church. A Committal Service will follow at the New Holland Cemetery.
Jennie (Veurink) Kaemingk was born on February 1, 1921 to Gerrit and Ruby (Jansen) Veurink on the family farm north of New Holland, SD. She attended Tiemans Country School through the eighth grade. She was an excellent cook and baker – putting those skills to use as a Cook for a Combine Crew in the South. She loved to clean and was employed as a Housekeeper for over 25 years at the Good Samaritan Society in Corsica, SD. On December 21, 1945 Jennie was united in marriage to Theodore Kaemingk in New Holland.
Jennie was a member of the New Holland Christian Reformed Church and active in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening and having people in for coffee. She was always ready to provide a meal for anyone who needed it.
Grateful for having shared in Jennie’s life: five sons: Elroy (Carol) Kaemingk of Platte, SD, Ron (Donna) Kaemingk of Englewood, CO, Dennis (Wyonne) Kaemingk of Mitchell, SD, DeWayne Kaemingk of Platte, SD and Doug (Jolinda) Kaemingk of Platte, SD; 16 grandchildren: Christy (Kerry) Antonsen, Cheri (Josh) Goodwin, Chad (Megan) Kaemingk, Carmen Kaemingk, Corissa (Dr. Clayton) Hoffman, Curtis Kaemingk, Jon (Ann) Kaemingk, Ronda (Chris) Olson, Aaron (Aleesha) Kaemingk, Adam (Hayley) Kaemingk, Bryan (Dr. Bethany) Kaemingk, Dr. Mark (Amy) Kaemingk, Jennifer (Jared) Boyden, Matthew (Allie) Kaemingk, Jessica Kaemingk and Luke Kaemingk; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Ruth (Marlo) Biesma of Springfield, SD; two sisters-in-law: Elsie Veurink of New Holland, SD and Betty Kaemingk of Lyndon, WA; a brother-in-law, Frank (Joy) Kaemingk of Denver, CO; along with many nieces and nephews.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Ted (Sept. 24, 1975); her parents, Gerrit and Ruby Veurink; a grandson, Jason Kaemingk (1995); five brothers; and two sisters.
