Elmer E. “Al” Ouellette, age 83, died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Togus Springs Hospice following a long illness. He was born in Hamlin Plantation, ME on May 13, 1934 the son of Hector Ouellette and Ida (Soucie) Ouellette.
He had honorably served his country in both the Army and the Navy.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed many years by Statler Tissue Co, previously Hudson Pulp & Paper Co.
He is survived by his children: Fern Neilson and husband Howard of Pittston, Patty Cunningham and husband Shawn of South China, Jennifer Ouellette and fiancé Derek Cunningham of Sidney and Jeremy Ouellette and wife Megan of Jay; the mother of his children, Joyce Wheelock and the Wheelock family; two brothers: Dean Ouellette and wife Karen of Augusta and Danny Ouellette and wife Pam of Hallowell; two sisters: Pat Ashcroft and Linda Dube, both of Augusta; 13 beloved grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several Nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no visiting hours scheduled. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 21st at 11 AM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers with military honors will follow in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
