Obituary for Hershel Leslie Pannell

Hershel Leslie Pannell
Hershel Leslie Pannell, 64, of Cleveland, Va., went home surrounded by family and friends to be reunited with his beloved earthly father, Leslie Pannell, and our Heavenly Father on June 14, 2017, at 10:10 p.m. As we gathered to celebrate all the wonderful memories, he was smiling from above and celebrating his reunion with his dear life long friend, Keith Herbert. As his favorite song says, "He's Going Home".

Survivors include his mother, Tina Pannell; wife, Mary Pannell; daughter, Erica Williams; son, Richard Pannell and wife Tina; grandsons, Kaelib Jones and Isaiah Pannell; granddaughters, Kaia Jones, Skylair Pannell, and Koko Williams.

Pallbearers will be Larry Gibson, Gary Gibson, Jim Gibson, Kaelib Jones, Isaiah Pannell, and Ashby Gilmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Gibson, Robert Townes, Bracken Fields, Carl Tucker, and Jason Monk.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017, in the Owens Funeral Service chapel with Pastor Bill Price and Willie Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon with military rites conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be given to the Masonic Lodge of Cleveland, Va., in care of Rick Holmes, William Burchfield Lodge #294, AF & AM, P.O. Box 1765, Lebanon, VA 24266.
