Harold E. "Gene"  Walton
WATERFORD Harold E. “Gene” Walton, 88, formerly of Lea Ave. died peacefully Friday, June 16, 2017 at Ellis Hospital. Born in White Plains he was the son of the late Charles and Beatrice Henderson Walton.

Gene was a veteran of the US Navy and served during WW II. He lived most of his life in Waterford and worked at the Grand Union Warehouse until his retirement in 1991. He was also a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He and his wife always loved spending winters in Florida with their friends, playing golf and just being in the sun.

Gene was the husband of 46 years of the late Elizabeth “Judy” Walton and the loving father of Cheryl R. Frost (Stephen) of Clifton Park, Craig S. Walton (Mary Jane) of Waterford and Jeanrae M. Benoit (Marc) of Burnt Hills. He was the brother of Beatrice Gambichler of Peekskill and the late Mabel Lewis, Charles, Richard and William Walton. Gene is also survived by his grandchildren, Cortney Wolff, Stephen Frost, Dylan and Derek Walton, and Sarah Benoit and by his great grandchild, Parker Ragone as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.

The family would especially like to thank the amazing staff on C-4 at Ellis Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Gene.
