Obituary for Nicholas L. Carello

Seneca Falls – Nicholas L. Carello, 83, formerly of W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday (June 25, 2017) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY.

Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Wednesday (July 5) from 10 AM to 11 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM at the funeral home with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. 38105

Nick was born in Seneca Falls, NY on November 18, 1933 the son of the late Nunzio & Lena Galatone Carello. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had owned and operated Carello Traveler’s Insurance Agency in Seneca Falls. He, also, had owned Carello Buick in Elmira, NY. He had served from 1986 to 1990 as Democratic Commissioner of the Board of Elections for Seneca County. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls and the S.M.S. He coach Biddy Basketball for a number of years. He, also, had coached basketball at St. Patrick’s and had coached both, JV and varsity basketball at Mynderse Academy. In 2014, Nick was inducted into the Seneca Falls Baseball Hall of Fame. He had served as general manager of the Geneva Cubs of Geneva, NY.

He is survived by:
His wife, Annette Cazzola Carello of Seneca Falls, whom he married on July 1, 1985
His daughter – Lisa Salotti – Geneva, NY
1 granddaughter – Brooklyn Salotti
5 sisters – Frances Bruch – Seneca Falls, NY
Amelia Furano – Seneca Falls, NY
Grace Patti – Seneca Falls, NY
Nancy (Wally) VanDuyne – Auburn, NY
Theresa (Gene Emerick) Smith – Seneca Falls, NY
Several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Nick was predeceased by 1 sister, Dahlia Morabito Liberatore, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul & Teresa Anastasia Cazzola, & his brother-in-law, Paul Cazzola.
