Verna was our babysitter

For my sister, Linda, and me in the late 60s and early 70s when we all lived in Bethany, OK.  My folks were public school educators, and Verna watched us during the day until my sister was old enough to go to grade school, and then watched me (the younger kid) for another few years.  We all loved Verna and her family.  She was so very kind to us, and we were blessed to have known her.  I enjoyed having her in our home, and on frequent occasions, when she took us over to her house in downtown Bethany.  Pam often drove my sister and me, or just me, back to our house in her VW bug.  (I remember Pam had a key ring with one of those big 70s smiley faces encased in a flower with big petals.)  I was the ring bearer at Pam's wedding, and I have fond memories of that event at a church at NW 23rd and Mueller (I think!) in Bethany (don't recall the name).  I lived my entire childhood in Bethany, but since becoming a grown-up, I've lived all over the country.  I'm now a corporate lawyer in Minneapolis-St. Paul.  Just wanted to say how much my sister and I loved Verna and her family, and especially the kindness that Verna showered on us, as if we had been her own kids.

My condolences (and good wishes),

Gary Epperley
