Obituary for Eladio Rivera

Eladio Rivera
Eladio Rivera, Jr.,64, lost his battle with cancer on June 28, 2017. He was at home surrounded by his family.

Eladio, "Junior", was born on April 17, 1953 in The Bronx, New York to Eladio and Carmen Luisa Rivera. As a young child, Junior was always an adventurous boy. He was determined to travel the country and he did so with determination and no fear. From hitchhikes to stowing away on buses to buying himself a plane ticket to Puerto Rico, junior was on the go. While creating his own adventures, he fell in love with tractor trailers. He was fascinated by them and looked up to those drivers. He always knew that was what he was going to be and that is what he became. Throughout his career, eladio traveled throughout the United States from coast to coast. He met many friends throughout his journey and visited many places. His stories were never boring. He worked hard and it showed. He was awarded driver of the month several times and even became driver of the year. His dream eventually came true...he formed his own company and became his own boss.

Aside from being the master of the road, Junior was also a family man. He met the love of his life in New York City 43 years ago. Together, they raised 3 kids, 1 son and 2 daughters. He cherished his family, those near and far. He made annual family trips to Florida, packing a group of 10 in a 5 passenger car. In his mind, the more the merrier. He always wanted to be around those that he loved no matter what it took. Once in Florida, a week was spent in Orlando and the other week was always on a beach. His love for the beach, the ocean, the sand, the palm trees, the sun was obvious. It was his happy place. We know where he is now....on a beach soaking in the sun.

Eladio leaves behind his wife, Luz Rivera and kids, Eladio Rivera III, Amy Estrada, and Christina Rivera. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, Marisa, Natalia, Joel, Giana, Joziah, Jonathan, Ethan, Elijah and Lilah. He also leaves behind his sister, Evelyn and 6 nieces and nephews, Nestor, Alex, Priscilla, Shavon, Stephanie and Iziel. He leaves son-in-laws and a daughter-in-law. He also leaves behind his aunt and uncle

and numerous cousins. Eladio also leaves behind many friends and associates that he met throughout his life.
