Ruby "Arthalene" Wyckoff
Arthalene Wyckoff, 90, of Gardner, KS passed away June 30, 2017. Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, KS. Visitation will be 9:00 am before the service. Graveside will be 2:00 pm Thursday, July 6 at Sunny Slope Cemetery, Council Grove, KS. Arthalene was born Nov. 15, 1926 in Wilsey, KS to Ruben E. Hailey and Blanche O. (Wright) Hailey. She grew up in Wilsey, KS and graduated from Wilsey High School. Arthalene married Irvin Wyckoff on July 24, 1945 in Council Grove, KS. During their 53 years of marriage, they lived in Herington, Council Grove, Columbia, MO and Topeka. In her later years, Arthalene moved to Gardner, KS to be closer to family. She was admittedly a “workaholic” and almost always held a job outside the home up to the age of 84, generally doing office administration work. However, at heart she was a farm girl, capable of doing anything and even worked at Delevan Air Base cleaning sparks plugs during WWII. Arthalene was an active member of the Methodist church in Topeka. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and ABWE in Topeka. Her family describes her as sharp as a tack and neat as a pin. Arthalene will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin; siblings, Faye Bock and Waldo Hailey and daughter in law, Janie Wyckoff. Arthalene is survived by her children: Pamela Young, Denver, CO, Robert “Bob” Wyckoff, Gardner, KS, Linda McCulloch (Marty), New Franklin, MO; seven grandkids and fourteen great grandkids.
