My life with Popsie
Today I say till we meet again to my best friend and my cherished Uncle. For those who don't know Pops had a stroke in 2001 and I've been his caregiver ever since. We spent time doing physio and laughing even though he had no power of speech we communicated with one another extremely well. When he first had his stroke we were trying to get him to say his name, he started by saying Pepsi no popsie then finally I would sound out Paul and he would say his name. We laughed so hard and after that he was known as Popsie. It is so hard to say I will see you later to an Uncle I've loved and respected my whole life. I've protected and cared for his every need for so long and now I'm lost and empty without him. My natural urge is to go and bring him a treat so we can visit and laugh, I get a sick realization he's not here. Pops you have been a blessing to me and it wasn't me caring for you but in all reality you have been blessing me by your love and generosity. Because of Popsie's limited speech he would hold out his hand and say I LIKE YOU, I LIKE YOU A LOT! He was saying I love you so much.
Pops I want you to know
"I LIKE YOU, I LIKE YOU A LOT.
This is not goodbye, it's I will see you later.
I MISS YOU SO MUCH
