The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Boris Cvetkovski can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Life Story for Boris Cvetkovski

Boris Cvetkovski
Boris Cvetkovski - Born Mar 8, 1923 and died July 6, 2017 at the age of 94.

Father was a warm hearted, easy going and sympathetic individual. He forgave
& forgot easily and held no grudges. He frequently laughed, smiled, told
jokes and reminisced about the "Old Country" whenever company was around.
He worked hard often long hours, sacrificed and saved relentlessly in order
to provide for his family. He loved to work overtime in order to earn a
decent wage & establish a comfortable life for his wife Luba and his 2 sons George and Chris.

Boris was born in Selo Ezereni, Resen to parents Pande & Luba Cvetkovski.
Pande left the family in search of better life and emigrated to Argentina in
1928. He returned to Ezereni in 1960 after 32 years not knowing his son
Boris. Boris, along with his mother Luba, sister Sofia (COCA), brother Mite
lived in the village in squalor conditions. Like his Father, Boris was
determined to go abroad to seek an improved life for his family. Finally in
the late evening hours he and 6 other members from Ezereni decided to take a chance. In 1957, they sailed across Prespansko Ezero in a small, leaking
fishing boat and escaped to Greece. They were caught at the border by the
Coast Guard and put in Lavrion prison for 18 months.

In 1959, the Salvation Army sponsored Boris to come to Canada. He initially
settled in Windsor but was forced to move to Toronto to find work. He worked
as a dishwasher at the Royal York Hotel. In 1961, he sponsored his wife and
2 sons to join him in Toronto. Dressed in a 2nd hand suit he welcomed his
family at Pearson Airport June 16, 1961. Both parents worked hard, saved
feverishly and purchased their home on Chilton Rd. in East York in 1963.

His eldest son George, married Zora his wife of 40 years and have 2 children
Stephen and Robert. In turn the grandsons Stephen married Valaria and Robert married Jennifer. Over time Boris had 5 greatgrandchildren Marcus,
Christian, Victoria, James and Vivienne.

Chris also married and raised 3 grandchildren Tyler, Zach and Melody. In
time Melody married Roberto and the family grew to include 3
greatgrandchildren Marina, Maria & Julian.

Dad had a good life a long life and a relatively contented life. There were
numerous up and downs, twists and turns but he managed to overcome
hardships. Despite coming to Canada with just a suitcase & no one to greet
him he succeeded against all odds. He fulfilled his dreams and now can rest
peacefully knowing that all is well. He left his mark on several families
and on everyone he touched for future generations to enjoy.
