Edith Ilene Breeding Rasnake, age 91, of the Big A Mountain section of Russell County, Virginia passed away Monday (July 10, 2017) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born April 8, 1926 in Davenport, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Tivis and Lottie Compton Breeding. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church at Duty, Virginia. She had formerly been employed as a seamstress at Honaker Mills and was a salesperson for AVON. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an excellent cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Breeding; brother, Tivis Breeding, Jr. and sisters, Thelma Deel, Beulah Duty and one infant sister.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Rasnake of the home; six children, Brenda Hale of Lebanon, Virginia; Rita Taylor of Bee, Virginia, Rev. Denver Sutherland and wife, Sherry of Rosedale, Virginia, Geneva Lowe and husband, Carson “Dickie”, Duane Rasnake and wife, Melissa and Roger Rasnake all of Honaker, Virginia; four sisters, Loretta Bostic and husband, Herman, Wanda Sullivan and husband, Lee, Judy Mathis and husband, Eddie and Betty Bostic; thirteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Lonnie Fuller and Rev. Denver Sutherland officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
