Funeral services for Brandon Hightower, 33, of Portales, will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., July 14, 2017 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Ryan Hightower, Dion Hightower, Darron Hightower, Dewayne Hightower, Denver Collins, Dustin Hall, Cliff Neece and Nathan Nixon serving as pallbearers. Sammy and Melvin Hightower will be honorary pallbearers.
Brandon Clay Hightower was born Feb. 13, 1984 in Clovis, NM to Janice (Collins) and Melvin Hightower, and died July 9, 2017 in Amarillo, TX where he had been living for the past few weeks. Brandon had recently been re-baptized to renew his dedication to living as a Christian. He grew up in Portales where he had lived most of his life. During his adult life, Brandon worked as a transport driver for various different trucking companies.
As a young man, he enjoyed swimming and snow skiing. Brandon also enjoyed drawing. He also enjoyed electronics and various types of gadgets. He was known for being a very sharp dresser, and was very meticulous about his appearance.
Brandon is survived by his father, Melvin Hightower of Portales and his mother and step-father, Janice and Ronald Tiner also of Portales; a brother, Sammy Hightower of Portales; a sister, Kristy Collins of Portales; a step-brother, Jared Tiner of Portales; two step-sisters, Melisa Tiner of Portales and Colina Tiner of Clovis; his maternal grandparents, Lorene and Gene Collins of Portales; two nieces, Amara and Zoey Hightower and a nephew, Jordanyl Roybal; as well as other nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and various other family members. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nell and Clint Hightower.
