Obituary for Robert D. Blomquist

Robert  D.  Blomquist
Robert D. Blomquist, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook.

Born in Jersey City, Mr. Blomquist was a graduate of Somerville High School Class of 1958 and resided in Bound Brook for many years prior to relocating to Middlesex.

In 1958 Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1961.

He worked for the former Tekni Plex Company in Branchburg and Adesa Company in Manville prior to retiring.

A longtime volunteer fireman with the Bound Brook Fire Department at Fire House #2, Robert was also a Past Exalted Ruler of the Bound Brook Elks Lodge #1388.

He was an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan as well as a fan of the Louisville Cardinals and South Carolina Gamecocks. In addition, Mr. Blomquist liked to hunt, fish and even held a Brown Belt in Karate.

He is predeceased by his parents, Edna and Al Blomquist; siblings, Arthur, Carl and Evelyn Blomquist and daughter in-law, Kristine Donovan.

Surviving are his loving wife, Shirley; children, Debbie DeBaro and her husband Ralph, Stephen Donovan, Doreen Graizzaro and her husband Gary, Dawn Brace and her husband Dave and Robin Phelps and her husband Keith; brothers, Walter Blomquist and his wife Vivian and Raymond Blomquist and his wife Linda and grandchildren, Kimberly and Hollie DeBaro, Andy, Lauren, Harrison, and James Graizzaro and Rebecca and Daniel Brace.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11AM in the Middlesex Funeral Home 528 Bound Brook Rd. Middlesex, NJ 08846.

Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery, Bound Brook.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
