Charles “Charlie” G. Burwell Jr., age 76 died early on Wednesday morning, July 5, 2017 in the arms of the man he loved, as the result of an apparent heart attack.
He was born in New Haven, CT, the oldest child of Charles G. Burwell, Sr. and Mary Theresa (Seward) Burwell.
He is survived by his devoted spouse and life partner of 39 years, L. Barry King. He is also survived by his daughter, Nicolle Burwell Michaud and his grand-daughter, whom he adored, Savannah Violet Michaud; Charlie is survived as well, by siblings, Patty Bokowski, Ruth Fiorillo-Handy, William Burwell, James Burwell, his Aunt “Sis” Welchans and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Richard, Peter and Edward “Sharkey” Burwell and sisters Gladys Ardito and Evelyn Burwell.
Charlie and Barry lived for several years in North Haven and Northford, CT before relocating to Maine, where he was a cherished member of Barry's family. They also lived in Florida for 21 years, with 17 of those years in Key West.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” to honor Charlie, on SUNDAY, AUGUST 27th at 1pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green
