Betty Marie Kraynak, 81, of Marietta, Ohio died Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Marietta. She was born on December 26, 1935 in Marietta, to the late Everett and Florence Miller Lauer.

She was a 1953 graduate of Lower Salem High School and had worked as an operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Company.

Betty was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, and was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and along with her husband she enjoyed time spent with family and vacationing.

She is survived by two sons, Steve of Lowell and Keith of Marietta; a daughter, Kimberly Warne (Troy) of Colorado Springs, CO; and three grandchildren: Brandon Kraynak, Jonathan and Joshua Warne; two sisters, Julia Brooker (Bernard) of Lowell, and Mary Hesson (Gene) of Whipple; and a brother, David Lauer (Dee) of Mathias, NY.

Betty was married August 20, 1958 to George Michael Kraynak, who preceded her in death one week ago, July 16, 2017. Also deceased are an infant son, Mark, a sister Martha Bradley and a brother Everett Lauer, Jr.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Burial will follow at the New St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service held 3:00 p.m.
