Nancy Nepp Gabella (née Nancy Lou Nepp), a 40-year resident of Cañon City, Colorado, passed away July 10, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she had been hospitalized. Nancy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 19, 1932.
At Albert Lea High School, Nancy excelled in archery, basketball and math. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Minnesota in 1954. Nancy worked in San Francisco, California, Tallahassee, Florida, and Anchorage, Alaska, before landing in Cañon City where she worked at St. Thomas More Hospital for 20 years.
Nancy loved reading, listening to music, playing board and card games, acing 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles and solving mysteries. A competitive bridge card enthusiast, she played locally and at tournaments. Generous with her time, she played bridge with individuals at the Fremont Correctional Facility and gave rides or other assistance to friends. Nancy attended Christ Episcopal Church regularly.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Ewald Ernest Nepp; mother, Alice Ray Nepp, both formerly of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Florence, Colorado; brother, John F. Nepp and sister-in-law, Marion A. Nepp, both most recently of Cañon City.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia, of Austin, Texas, Barbara, of Denver, Colorado; sons, Robert, of Villa Park, Illinois, William, of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Isaac and Joshua Gabella, from Nashville, Eli and Eric Webb, from Denver; niece, Stacy Nepp, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nephews, Scott Nepp, of the Cortez, Colorado area, and Greg Nepp of Newcastle, Colorado.
Nancy was loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Memorial service, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, Christ Episcopal Church, 816 Harrison, in Cañon City, Reverend Mark Meyer officiating. Nancy will be inurned in the Christ Episcopal Church columbarium, alongside her parents.
