Obituary for Viola Pearl Bratton

Viola Pearl Bratton
Viola Pearl Allen Jenkins Bratton, 82, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was called from labor to rest on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Viola was born December 9, 1934, in Doyline, Louisiana, to Vena and Dan Allen.

She moved to Cheyenne in 1960 and became a member of the Second Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many capacities. She loved her Lord, her church and her family. She was very proud of the fact that she received a kidney transplant in Denver, Colorado in August 1993, and that the kidney functioned until her passing. What a wonderful God we serve!

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Fitzhugh (Rev. Ernest John Fitzhugh) of Cheyenne; son, Jeffery Wayne Jenkins (Catherine Blunt) of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Jeffery Wayne Jenkins, Jr. of Casper and Courtney Jenkins of Cheyenne; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Jenkins of Cheyenne and Jeremiah Jenkins of Casper; three sisters, Vertie Lee Semester of Shreveport, LA, Gertie Lee Henderson of Fort Worth, TX and Cleverna Allen of Shreveport, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John S. Jenkins and James Bratton; her daughters, Loretta Draine, Verna Jenkins and Charlotte Jenkins; sisters, Edna King and Annie B. Musgrow; and brothers, William Murray and M.C. Gillis.

A special thank you to Dr. Jean Halpern and Dr. Alex Mears for all of the many years that they served Viola as a patient and friend. Also a very special thank you to the staff at The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies and also the staff ay Halcyon Hospice. You have all truly been a blessing to our family.

A home going service will be celebrated on Monday, July 31, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. An interment service will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
