Nicholas J. Cantlin, age 25, passed away 7/30/17 in his happy place surrounded by his loving family.
Nick was a graduate of Howard High School of Technology in 2011, and attended Our Lady of Fatima through all of his elementary years. After dabbling in the construction field, he settled in as a clerk at a local food market.
He was an active member of the New Castle Moose Lodge 1578, as well as the Our Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus 11469, member of the third degree.
Nick loved the beach, swimming, Disney World and wild rides on the Wildwood Boardwalk. He loved Harleys and especially the Dallas Cowboys.
Born on June 4, 1992, with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Nick was a fighter from the beginning. He lived life to the fullest. He was kind, compassionate, generous and loving. He let nothing hold him back.
Nick is preceded in death by his father John J. Cantlin Jr.; and his grandfathers, Edward L. Shevland and John J. Cantlin Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Danielle Cantlin (Shevland), who was his rock; brother, Christian Cantlin, whom he adored; proud grandmother’s, Mary Shevland, and Anne Marie Cantlin; Godmother, Becky Jarrell, who was also his doctor, nurse, and pharmacist; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends; as well as his “children”, Oscar and Pita, his beloved Chihuahuas .
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 4, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720. A viewing will take place at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Rd, Cape May, NJ 08204, following the Mass.
