Obituary for George J. Sakel

George Sakel passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Coshocton, Ohio. During WWII George enlisted in the Navy, serving on the USS Medusa in the South Pacific.
Shortly after his return to the states he relocated to New Jersey where he established the Sakel Moving and Storage Company, owned and operated for more than 60 years.
George was a lover of life who was generous and always had a joke to share. Some of his contributions included participation in the Greek Orthodox AHEPA organization as well as sponsoring many local athletic teams.
George is predeceased by his parents John and Gertrude (Almedia) and sister Diana Rose.
He is survived by his devoted wife Jamie, sons Geoffrey Sakel and Shawn Auriano, daughter Stacy Walters, step-brother & sister George Kasotis and Sevie Kleinerman. Grandchildren: Patricia Farley, John Sakel, Illaina Panyko, Christos Walters, Kacie and Taylor Auriano. Great grandchildren: Corey Farley, Christina Panyko, Isaiah Perez, Everleigh Rose Panyko and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10:30 am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd, Wrightstown, NJ.
Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.
