Hideko Ishida Rockey, 90, formerly of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan on July 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hisagoro and Yoshino. She was married to Walter Rockey in Sapporo, Japan on September 17, 1951, who precedes her in death.

She was a 1944 graduate of Sapporo Seichyu Girls High School. She worked as a seamstress on numerous wedding and prom gowns over her career. She retired as a master seamstress and homemaker.

She is survived by five children, John (Gwen) Rockey of Bellefonte, Mary (Perry) Morgan of New Holland, Donna (Wayne) Brooks of Zion, Gene (Sherri) Rockey of Pleasant Gap, Bill (Barbara) Rockey of Howard; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and two great grandchildren.

She was a member of Pleasant Gap Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, spending time with her family. She especially loved traveling with her close friends.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 6-9pm at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street in Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Shock officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
