Gary M. Taber, 65, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Poughkeepsie on December 12, 1951, he was the son of Robert E. and Jean Carroll Taber.
Gary had served in the United States Marine Corp in the Vietnam War. He had worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM in E. Fishkill, NY. Gary was a NY Yankees Fan, a devoted father and grandfather and was an avid artist. Gary was also a member of the American Legion Lafayette Post #37 in Poughkeepsie, NY.
He is survived by his former wife, Kathleen Taber of Poughkeepsie, his son and daughter-in-law Justin A. and Linda Taber of Yorktown, NY, brother Jimi Taber of Poughkeepsie and his three sisters Susan Byrd of Hyde Park, NY, Debra Casiero of Brick, NJ and Jaye Taber of Poughkeepsie. Gary is also survived by his grandchildren Brandan and Mia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:00am in the Funeral Home and burial with Military Honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park, NY.
