Obituary for Dewitt Clinton "Clint" Seward III

ACTON, MA: DeWitt Clinton (Clint) Seward III, son of DeWitt Clinton (Bud) Seward Junior and Ruth Editha (Moore) Seward, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on August 5, 2017.

Beloved husband of Mary Anne (Cacciamani) Seward for 54 years. Devoted father of Ruth Anne Seward & her husband Christopher Cain of Worcester; Jean (Seward) Abrahams & her husband David Abrahams of Norwood; and DeWitt Seward (DC) IV & his wife Sharon (Ding) Seward of Arlington, MA. Cherished grandfather of Gabriel, Lillian & Charlotte Cain; Hannah & Joshua Abrahams; and William & Elizabeth Seward. Loving brother to Joan (Seward) Willey and Patricia (Seward) Byard.

Clint graduated in 1963 from the US Military Academy at West Point with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and in 1965 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. A Vietnam Era Veteran, Clint spent 10 years in the Air Force. As a civilian, Clint was a successful engineer working at World Computer, Mosler Corporation, and Bristol Babcock. Eventually he was hired to run Ion Track Instruments in Burlington, MA as the President. Clint’s other accomplishments included being a licensed patent agent, a justice of the peace, a police commissioner in the town of Bethel, CT and an avid environmentalist and inventor. He held 10 patents at the time of his death.

From 1989 until his death, Clint owned several companies and pursued his dream of developing new energy sources using ball lightening technology. He was also very active in town politics, the Republican party, and Green Acton. He was on the finance committee for the town of Acton. In spite of his illness, Clint worked tirelessly until his death. Clint was a man of many talents and interests but was clear that his greatest joy in life came from all of his family.
