Shirley M. Hensler 82, of Waterloo was taken in death by her heavenly Lord and Savior on Monday August 14, 2017 at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.

Shirley was born on May 13, 1935 in Reeseville, WI the daughter of Harvey and Dora (Meyer) Poetter. She was a 1953 graduate of Juneau High School. She married the love of her life Walter Hensler on August 20, 1955 at the United Church of Christ in Reeseville. She worked at Beaver Dam Dairy, the State of Wisconsin Public Service Commission and in 1961 worked at Zibell Hardware and Mechanical contracting. Shirley also worked nights at the Sun Prairie Canning Company during pea and sweet corn seasons. In October 1972 she and her husband started a plumbing, electrical and HVAC Company called PEACH Inc. Shirley was the designated Secretary for the business for thirty years until the sale and her retirement in 2002. In retirement she worked at the Waterloo High School in food service. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and volunteered in the church office for twenty years. Above all she loved spending her free time with her family and friends.

Survivors include: Husband Walter of Waterloo; Sons Dale Hensler of Reeseville and Marcus (Ellen) Hensler of Waterloo; Grandsons Louis and Addison Hensler of Waterloo; Sisters Nancy (Willard) Schoeffling of Watertown and Phyllis (Don) Vehlow of Waterloo; Brother Charles (Diane) Poetter of Beaver Dam; Aunts Verna Meyer of Columbus and Florence Lange of Fort Atkinson. Shirley is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents. Memorials in Shirley’s Honor to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday August 28, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Waterloo with the Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
