Obituary for Allen Crosby

Allen Thomas Crosby, Sr., age 81, of West Haven passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Haven on May 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Allen Crosby and Anna (Dwyer) Burrows. Allen proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Before retirement, he was employed as a tool maker for Pratt and Whitney. Allen was an avid fisherman, an artist, and enjoyed playing the saxophone. Allen was known for playing the best harmonica and was the unofficial mayor of Oak Street Pier. Most importantly, he was a loving father and grandfather. He cherished his grandchildren very much and passed onto them his love and talents in music, art, and fly-fishing.

Allen is survived by his children, Allen (Josephine) Crosby, Jr. of West Haven, Donald Crosby of Seymour, Timothy (Elizabeth) Crosby of North Haven, grandchildren A.J., Paulie, John, Zachary, Richard, Jeremy, and Samantha, his former wife of twenty eight years Rosalie Oberempt Pysz, two nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his step father Edward Burrows, three brothers and two sisters.

All services will be held privately. The West Haven Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America at www.dav.org.
