Obituary for Gregory L. Piper
Gregory L. Piper, 54, of Carlisle, unexpectedly departed this life on Friday, August 25, 2017, at his home.
He was born on October 22, 1962, in Pensacola, FL, a son of the late Leroy Piper, Jr. and Patricia A. McCrae Piper.
Gregg was trained as a draftsman and spent the majority of his working life employed within the engineering field as a civil draftsman. Most recently he was employed by A-1 Vending, Inc., Carlisle.
His most important role over the past ten years was to be a caregiver for his mother, Patricia. This was a role that Gregg took great pride in and also excelled at. He was also very willing and able to help do things for his neighbors. Gregg was a very thoughtful and sentimental person, always remembering birthdays and anniversaries with cards and flowers. He loved to cook and was an excellent grillmaster. In the past Gregg enjoyed riding dirt bikes with his son and taking trips to the beach at Ocean City, MD.
In addition to his mother, Gregg is survived by his son, Derek Piper of Mercersburg; his brother, Gary L. (Rose) Piper of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy, who died on February 26, 2005.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Jeff Ehko will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
