Georgia Ellen (Hunt) Stanley, 84, passed away August 29, 2017 in Stillwater, OK. Family will greet friends from 6-7:30 on Monday, September 4, 2017. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, OK.

Georgia was born to William “Bill” Earl and Lora Mildred (Johnson) Hunt on September 1, 1932 in Ripley, OK. She married the love of her life, Adrian J. “Bud” Stanley on May 21, 1952 in Perkins, OK. He later passed in April of 1992.

She attended Spring Valley School grades 1-8 and Stillwater High School grades 9-12. She was a switchboard operator at The Bell Telephone Company and then worked at the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company assisting the Home Economist testing recipes and teaching cooking classes to Girl Scouts and international students. She was a lifelong member of the Diamond Valley Church. She enjoyed being a Diamond Valley Red Hat Diva. Some of her hobbies she enjoyed were sewing, cooking and fishing with her grandsons.

She volunteered at Stillwater Hospital for many years. She also made stockings for all the “Christmas” babies in the newborn nursery at SMC.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers James Dale Hunt and Floyd Vernon Hunt.

She is survived by her daughter LaNita Gayle (Stanley) Plank and her husband Larry; grandchildren Brian Adrian Plank of Perkins, OK; Tyler Bruce Plank of Glencoe, OK; sister Joqueta “Jo” Riding In of Pawnee, OK and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Brian Plank, Tyler Plank, Jason Rose, Dennis Ventris, Ricky Kinzie, Steve Plank and David Reed.
