Bruce Harold Hardy
Hardy, Harold Bruce – With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Bruce Hardy at the age of 69 years. Bruce passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 in South Lorrain Township.
Bruce was born December 12, 1947 in Thunder Bay to the late Harold Hardy and the late Lois Sliter (nee Edwards). He had worked as a Forest Technician with the Ministry of Natural Resources until the time of his retirement. Bruce had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 31 years and was the Past President of the Nipigon Branch 32. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and was affectionately known as Bruce the Moose. He had a very unique orange and blue steel boat that he customized to his liking. Bruce had a great sense of humour. He also had many one liners that he will be remembered for such as “if you see anybody I know, tell them I said hello” and “it’s another great day in Northern Ontario”. Bruce is remembered as a dedicated family man and he will be sadly missed.
Predeceased by parents. Survived by his loving wife Cheryl. Sadly missed by his children Sarah Hardy [Jeff Matthews] of Jarvis and Trevor Hardy of Corunna. Fondly remembered by grandchildren: Hannah, Adam, Max and Adelle. Also survived by his siblings: Sandy Dalal, Ralph [Lynn] Hardy and Brooke Garrah; nieces and nephews: Steve, David, Michael, Pamela, David, Jeff, Aimee, Makayla, Emily, Sarah and Andrea; and one great-niece Violet. Also missed by his mother-in-law Joyce Harding, brother-in-law John [Heather] Harding and sister-in-law Kelly [Andy] Roper; and his faithful friends Kane and Jazz.
The Hardy family will receive friends at Branch 54 of the Royal Canadian Legion - Haileybury, on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11am for a celebration of life. Memorial contributions to Timiskaming Home Support or the Ontario Wildlife Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
