Derrick Leon  Boothe
Derrick Leon Boothe, age 55, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died Saturday, September 2, 2017, at his residence. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Hank Atchison officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry "PawPaw" and Nona Jean "Nana" Boothe and sister, Donna Tucker Taylor.
Survivors include his daughters, Heather LeAnn Ward (Jake), Haleigh Dereke Hain (Cooper) and Hollie Towe (Brandon); son, Brad Martin (Haley); sisters, Rachele B. Kelley, Malia Facio (Jesse) and Tracie Tate; and grandchildren, Hayden Ward, Bryant Hain, McCoy Hain, Casen Towe, Griffyn Towe, Maci Jo Martin, Luke Martin and Kylee Bailey.
He was a truck driver for many years. People knew him as "CopperTone." Everyone knew him for his passion for Jesus.
He was an active member of Safehaven Church and Celebrate Recovery. He was, also, a skilled carpenter who used his craft to help others. He loved his children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Mitchell, Beau Tate, Gary Meadows, Brad Martin, Brian Kemp, Cory Facio, Michael Echols, Dallas Skinner, Vache Wilson, Steve Perkins, Adrian Facio and Donald Meggs.
Honorary pallbearers are friends at Celebrate Recovery, Paul Bessie, Solon Crain, Kyson Kemp and Todd Shirley and family. Also, all of his nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions will go to the "Acts 20:24" fund. This fund will be used to minister to those who are battling addiction. Please make checks payable to Safehaven Church earmarked "Acts 20:24".
