WATERFORD Harry Raymond McEntee - On the morning of September 2, Harry Raymond McEntee passed away at Ellis Hospital after a long and accomplished life. He was 93 years old. Harry was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 12, 1924. In November of 1945, he graduated from the 26th class of Columbia University Midshipmen's School and was commissioned an Ensign, as an engineering officer in the Navy. Harry served aboard the LSM 470 on a mission in China navigating the Yangtze River. Harry returned to Michigan and obtained a Master’s Degree in chemical and metallurgical engineering from the University of Michigan. He married his wife Frances in 1949 and moved to Waterford NY where Harry worked for GE Silicones. As a chemical engineer, Harry made many contributions to developing and refining the process of making and using silicones, earning a number of patents over the years. After 50 years of being a hands-on engineer solving problems and inventing, in March of 1999 Harry retired. He has since spent time with his 5 children and many grandchildren. His compassion, story-telling, and sense of humor will be missed.

Harry was the husband of the late Frances McEntee who died in 2015. He is survived by five children Harry M. McEntee (Irene) of Odenton Maryland, Margaret McEntee of Troy, Thomas McEntee of Waterford,
Christopher McEntee (Anne) of Latham, and Mary Gladding (Marc) of Malta, 7 grandchildren Jason, Jonathan, Alex, Erin, Sean, Samantha, and Christopher, and 10 great grandchildren. Harry is also survived by his brother Andrew McEntee (Kay) of Michigan as well as several nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his sister Marjorie McEntee of Michigan.

Funeral from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford on Friday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Waterford or the ARC of Rensselaer County in care of the funeral home office.
