Obituary for Robert Leon Corbett

Robert Leon  Corbett
Robert Leon Corbett, 81, of Lester Avenue, Pawcatuck, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 2, 2017. He was the husband of the late Marjorie M. (LeClair) Corbett who predeceased him on November 6, 2007.

Born in Milton, Mass., he was a son of the late John J. Corbett and Thelma L. Stern and her husband Paul.

After graduation from Gardiner High School, Gardiner, Maine, Robert joined the US Navy where he served for three years during the Korean War. He married his beloved Marge on June 25th, 1960 and together they had four children. He worked for many years at Electric Boat and upon retirement, went to work at Pfizer in security. Robert was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also a life member of the Pawcatuck Fire Dept.

He will be dearly missed by his children, David (Cindy) and Daniel, all of Pawcatuck, CT, James of Carolina, RI, and Patricia Blake (Michael) of Pottsville, PA; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister Carol DiMartino; brothers, John and Jim; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was also predeceased by his brother Richard.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Trish Cass for her excellent care of both Bob and Marge.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington, on Friday at 10am. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Michael’s Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379, in Robert’s memory.
