Died September 2, 2017, age 82. He was surrounded by his loving family: wife, Patricia and children, Thomas (Mary Dallas), Michelle (Jesse) Van Grol, Andrew (Kim), and Lisa (Michael) Pence. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren, Anthony (Rachel), Philip (Melissa) and Bryan (Nicole), Leah and Sarah, Ashley, Lindsey and Kaylee, Samantha, Shannon, and Adam and 7 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Matalynn, Peyton, Autumn, Brysen, Maximus, and Landon, He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Elinor and his brother Charles.

Richard worked tirelessly taking care of his family and for peace and justice in his community. The family would like to thank his hospice team especially Dr. Karen Nead, Lisa Rosenbauer, and Gail Brodner as well as special friends Debbie and Tim Sigrist.

A Celebratory Memorial will be held at the Rochester Public Market on Sunday, September 24 at 4 PM. Come celebrate the life of this very special man, and share supper. Dress casually. Contributions can be made in Richard’s name to Metro Justice, 1115 E. Main St., Box 16, Rochester 14609 or St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality, P.O. Box 31049, Rochester, NY 14603.
