Obituary for Juanita Brown

Juanita Brown, age 86, died peacefully on September 9, 2017 at her home in San Leandro surrounded by her loving family. Juanita was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Oakland, California, the daughter of John Castro and Hazel Lopes.
Juanita thoroughly enjoyed working for the Oakland Athletics and volunteering. She played bridge for over 50 years and volunteered for the VA hospital in Livermore for 7 years, Valley Care Hospital, and Santa Rita Jail. She was a lifetime member of Veterans of the Foreign Wars. Juanita continued to enjoy traveling, knitting, cooking, and being with her friends and family.
In 1951, Juanita married Marshall Brown for 65 years and had two daughters, Susan (Brian) Brown Bonivert, Livermore and Lisa (Robert) Silva, Dublin. Grandmother to Kate Brown Bonivert, Olivia Silva, and Clayton Silva. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sister of Dolores (George) Wells, Barbara (Mike) Folse, Margie (Mike) Peterman, Benny (Judi) Castro, Henry (Ferne) Castro, and Cousin Shirley Rodenborn who was like a sister to her.
A funeral service celebrating her life will take place on Friday, Sept. 15, at 10:30 at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette.
