Obituary for Immacolata (Emma) Agostino (Macri)

AGOSTINO, Immacolata - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Immacolata Macri Agostino, at the Welland Hospital in the early morning hours of September 14, 2017 at the age of 80. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Immacolata (Emma) was predeceased by her loving husband Saverio, mother and father Vincenzina and Francesco Macri, brother Pasqualino Macri, sister-in-law Maria Agostino, brothers-in-law Frank Agostino, Isidoro Agostino, Giuseppe Agostino, Domenico Agostino, and Antonio Lauro. She is the cherished mother of Dominic (Celine), Frank, Amedeo (Diane), and Marina (Rob); loving nonna to her dear grandchildren Emmanuel, Jason (Jessica), Adam, Michael, Shannon and Alexandra; survived by her brothers and sisters Salvatore, Giuseppe (Pepe), and Lina (late Antonio) of Italy, Maria (Natale) and Gina (Lorenzo) of Australia and brother-in-law Ortenzo, of Italy.

Born on June 27, 1937, in Grotteria, Italy, Immacolata immigrated to Canada in 1965 with her children and settled in Welland. She worked several jobs before settling in at the Niagara Catholic District School Board where she retired in 2002. She enjoyed being outdoors in her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens and especially loved taking care of her fig trees. She also took great pleasure in cooking for her family using many of the fresh vegetables that she grew herself. She loved people and life as shown by her kindness and selfless generosity towards her family, friends, and others. She will be sadly missed by her loving children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A special thank you to the nursing staff at the Welland Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Thursday September 21st, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Cudney Chapel on Friday September 22nd, 2017 at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Niagara Community Office.
