Gerald P. “Gerry” Cornell

Gerald P. Cornell, 78, of Syracuse passed away at his home on Thursday. He was a spiritual, kind, hardworking family man, who loved hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and the great outdoors. Gerry was a communicant of St. Daniel Church. He proudly served in the United States Marines from 1956 to 1960. Gerry was a dedicated and innovative worker at Lindstrom Electric/Cummings/Irby for 57 years. He was a member of the Liverpool Rod and Gun Club for more than ten years and a member of the Onondaga Ski Club for over a decade. Gerry was predeceased by his mother, Reine Orr; his daughter, Emily; and his former wife Marsha Goodman. Survivors include his wife, Deborah; his beloved children, a daughter, Michelle Rowe; three sons, Michael (Marcia) Cornell, David Cornell, and Brian Cornell; eleven grandchildren, Alana, Amy, Ashley, Becca, Erica, Jillian, Mark, Michael, Paul, Sean, and Tyler; and five great- grandchildren. Gerry was blessed with many caring friends and neighbors throughout his life in Syracuse/Lyncourt. He will be deeply missed by all. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Daniel Church, 3004 Court Street. Burial will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt N.Y.
