Edith  Miles (Hester)
Edith Laverne Miles, 80, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the North MS Medical Center. She was born February 21, 1937 to Gene and Gladys Hester in Monroe County. Edith married the love of her life, Billy Miles, on October 21, 1961, and they began their life in Tupelo where they raised their two boys. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Verona. Edith’s interests were her boys, the church, and playing bingo.

Services will be 2 Pm Tuesday at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Larry Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Edith is survived by her husband Billy Royce Miles of Verona; 2 sons, Royce Vandiver Miles (Nancy) of Starkville and Kenneth Eugene Miles (Kathy) of Verona; a very special part of their family, Cary Simmons of Guntown; a brother-in-law, Max Knight of Amory; her uncle, Preston Owings (Pat) of Tupelo; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Davis Miles, Royce Vandiver Miles Jr., and Porter Lee Miles; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Laverne Miles; and 2 sisters, Peggy Knight and Mary Ann Broadway (Howard).

Pallbearers will be Cary Simmons, Jeff Hilliard, Royce Miles, Porter Miles, Vincent Miles, Doug Fowlkes, and Roger Christian. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Mathis and Dr. Ricky Parker

Visitation will be 5-8 Monday at the funeral home.
Friends and family are invited to share memories and condolences at this guest book.
