Obituary for Margaret W. Thorpe

Margaret W. “Peg” Thorpe, 90, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Lansdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 20, 2017 at Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Doylestown, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Margaret Goetter Wood. She was the wife of William A. Thorpe for 67 years on June 3.

Peg was a great homemaker, wife and mother, as well as an excellent cook and baker. She and her husband moved to Masonic Village in 2005. In addition to living in Lansdale, she and her husband spent summers in the Poconos and winters in Davenport, Florida where they volunteered countless hours with Make-a-Wish Foundation at Kids’ Village. Since living in Elizabethtown, she was a member of Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Marcy, wife of Howard Wendrow, of Ardsley, NY and Caryl, wife of Daniel Waters, of Lansdale, PA; three grandchildren, Sara Wendrow, Ben, wife of Karyn Wendrow, and Nick Waters; and a brother, Joseph, husband of Adele Wood, of Lansdale. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Webster.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, October 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA, with Chaplain Gary George officiating. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive guests at Sell Chapel on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
