Condolences

Condolence From: Warren Herlong
Condolence: Dear Family of Traves:

My name is Warren Herlong. I white water raft guided with Jerry Hughes at Hughes River Expeditions back in the late 60s and early 70s. Jerry has kindly allowed me to come out every other summer and run a boat down the Middle Fork. In the course of these subsequent summers I came to know Travis. While you know all this I just want to say that Traves was the nicest most considerate and capable guide. I am now age 70 and Traves was very good about "looking after me" as I rowed a boat on the trips on which he was a guide. He always had a huge grin while he went about doing more than his share of the work while also looking after this "old guy" to make sure I did not get in trouble. I know you will miss him terribly.

Warren

Condolence: Knowing Travis since 1996 while guiding trips on he Snake River with him, he taught me a lot about bass fishing in Hells Canyon. I remember watching him score a touchdown for ISU on a tackle eligible play to beat Idaho in 1995 and listening to his recollection of the game for many years. A wonderful man who will be missed. My condolences to Julie, and his family.

Condolence: I am truly saddened to learn of Traves' passing. He was a great guy and a real comfort to me when on our first float trip with Hughes River Expeditions. I was pretty terrified and asked to go with the best and calmest boatman. He delivered, and made me brave enough to go again. My husband and I had many enjoyable conversations with Traves about fishing and his experiences in Chile. Our sincere condolences to his wife and children.
