Obituary for Margaret Elsie Miles (Chandler)

Margaret Elsie Miles (Chandler)
Margaret Elsie Miles (nee Chandler)
November 10, 1922 – September 24, 2017

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:26

Margaret entered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, peacefully, in her sleep, on Saturday, September 24 at the age of 94.

Beloved mother of Peter Miles (Sonoko), Nicholas Miles (Cathleen) and Sara Thomas (Gladson). Cherished grandmother of Kristofer Thomas, Kieran and Kariena Miles. Predeceased by her brother Frank Chandler (Dorothy) of Bury St. Edmunds, England.

Born in 1922 in Croyden, England, Margaret was a WWII veteran who served in the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air Force). Following the war she married Frederick G. Miles and began a family in Hounslow, England. They eventually emigrated to Canada and settled in Montreal. Some years later, Margaret and the children moved to Toronto where she diligently worked for a bank and served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and church secretary at Wilmar Heights Baptist Church for many, many years. She enjoyed “all things British” and was active in the St. George Society of Toronto.
Margaret was a kind and dignified woman who persevered with grace through difficulties and exuded a spirit of gentleness undergirded by her deep faith and her love for her family. Her family and friends miss her dearly.
