Obituary for Donna M. Palinski (Hudnall)

Donna Mae (Hudnall) Palinski, born December 10, 1939, squeezed every last drop from life before leaving us Saturday, September 23. She was a fierce lover, and a tenacious fighter. She liked a good smoke, a hot sun, and a strong cup of coffee.

Donna was a beauty in body and in spirit — an emerald-eyed, red-haired spitfire who always dressed to the nines and never smiled as wide, or shined as bright, as when on the arm of Eddie, the love of her life and husband of 53 years. He stopped loving her December 21, 2013. He starts loving her today, again and forever.

She spoke without pretense and made few apologies. Her stubbornness sometimes frustrated, but always inspired her only child, Diana, her “sweetheart”, who has always been and will always be proud to be her daughter. Diana now shares “Nana’s” love of adventure and hunger for the spicier sides of life with her two spirited and independent daughters, Reese and Josephine (Josie) Roberts.

A 1957 graduate of Woodward High School, Donna was a lab technician for 45 years, most recently with Dr. Mark Fine until her retirement in 2005. Donna and Eddie spent much of their life, and more recently their summers, in Toledo. She wintered in Fort Myers, where she and Eddie enjoyed a long retirement with good friends at Thunderbird Park. Both communities will have a little less music in the air without her easy laugh.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother and father, Eleanor and John, and sisters Kay and Martha. She will be missed by her sister Anna and dear friend Debbie, who both helped her find peace in her final days, sister Dorothy, “favorite” son-in-law Randy Roberts, granddaughters Reese and Josephine Roberts, many nieces and nephews, and an incredible cast of characters too numerous to name who contributed to, and were fortunate to have shared in Donna’s full, colorful, rich and wonderful life.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the incredible staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

A gathering to celebrate Donna’s life will be held Sunday October 1st from 1-4pm at the Buehner Center located in Oak Openings Metropark. 5402 Wilkins Rd., Whitehouse, Ohio 43571
