Paul Neil Alvarez, 88 of Langeloth died Saturday, September 23, 2017.
He was born October 11, 1928 in Spelter, WV, a son of the late Eugene and Mary Vega Alvarez.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Alvarez was employed by Washington Rides, Suwak Trucking, Greyhound Bus, then owned his own rig, Alvarez Trucking. He earned the Million Miles Award during his trucking years.
He was a member of the Langeloth Presbyterian Church
Mr. Alvarez was President of the Bur-Lang Fishing Club, President of the Burgettstown Senior Citizens, was a member of the Henry Vaux Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and their cabin, named Twin Oaks in Tionesta. He and his wife, Edith were instrumental in bringing the “Big Bands” from New York to the Langeloth Community Hall Dances, one of which was Guy Lombardo.
On May 29, 1948, he married Edith Arnette, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Raymond (Pat) Alvarez of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Jean Alvarez of Langeloth, and Paul (Malinda) Alvarez of Baden, his grandchildren, Justin and Louie Orison, Sharon Rogers, Rene Alvarez, Teri Alvarez-Allgeier, Derrick, and Luke Alvarez, his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Xavier, Jasmine, Alex, Page, and Hanna.
Deceased are his brothers, Herman, Henry, David “Pooch”, Richard, Husky, Kelly, and Louie Alvarez.
Friends will be received from 2-8 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, September 28, 2017 with the Rev. Bill Roemer officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
